Postponement of Expected Reforms

The country learnt on Thursday that the planned 2023 care reforms have been delayed.

Jeremy Hunt said the social care sector will receive increases in funding amounting to:

This funding will enable around 200,000 care packages to be delivered in what Hunt described as the “biggest increase in funding under any Government, of any colour, in history”.

It is disappointing that the reforms will not come next year however this does present the opportunity for Local Authorities to further prepare and to focus on other ways of improving their services.

There remain tens of thousands waiting for care and support. By providing solutions that improve efficiency and communications, we can help improve patient flow – the latest ADASS survey shows that over 500,000 people are already waiting for an assessment or review of their needs.
